Make your own paradigm card

A belief you put on for a set time, written down so you can take it off again. The card will not save without the way out.

Your cards stay in this browser. Nothing you write leaves the page, and the Pit link carries none of it.

A word or two. A film, a trade, a saint, a band: anything with its own way of seeing.

What you hold as true while it runs. Write it in the first person.

Optional. What you do differently while you wear it.

How you take it off, step by step. Required: no way out, no card.

The day it comes off, whatever happens. A week is a good first length.

A paradigm never overrides sleep, food, money or medicine. If it starts to, take it off early.

    What this is

The Deck Forge is a free paradigm card maker for chaos magic. You name a belief, write how you wear it and how you act under it, set the day it comes off, and write the way out. It will not save a card without the way out. Your cards join your Paradigm Deck draws in this browser, and you can keep any card as an image.

    How the Deck Forge works

A paradigm in chaos magic is a belief you put on deliberately for a set time, act inside fully, and then take off. The Paradigm Deck deals you house cards. The Forge lets you write your own: a film, a trade, a saint, a band, a scientist, anything with its own way of seeing the world.

Every card has the same parts as a house card. Wear it is the belief, in the first person. How you act is optional: what you do differently while it runs. Take it off is the way out, and it is required. A card with no way out does not save. Neither does one with no end date, and the date defaults to a week out.

Cards are kept in this browser. They show in the Deck under Your cards, where you can draw one, and they never go into a share link. Save image draws the card on a canvas in the page and hands you a PNG; it holds the card and nothing else. The Pit link only opens The Pit, so if you want to post a card, attach the image yourself.

One rule sits on the form for a reason: a paradigm never overrides sleep, food, money or medicine. If wearing one starts to, take it off early. The way out is there so you can.

    Deck Forge questions

    What is a paradigm card?

A written belief you agree to wear for a set time, with the way to take it off on the same card. Chaos magic uses paradigm shifting to treat belief as a tool: you pick one up for a job, work inside it, and put it down after.

Why does the way out have to be filled in?

Because putting a belief on is the easy half. The way out is how you know you are done: a closing act, a date, a word you say. A card without one is a belief with no end, which is the thing the method exists to avoid.

    Where are my cards kept?

In this browser only, the same way the Log is. Clearing the site's data removes them. Save an image of any card you want to keep somewhere else.

Do my cards show up in the Paradigm Deck?

Yes. When you have at least one, the Deck shows Your cards with a button to draw one of them. They stay out of the Deck's share links, which carry only a number, so nobody else sees your words.

Can I share a card in The Pit?

Save it as an image and attach it to a post. The Post it to The Pit button opens The Pit and sends nothing from your card.
